An ordinary day at the Tower: the women go about their tasks.
The Yeomen
"Tower warders, under orders. . ."

Dame Carruthers (Mary Jane Schulze) tells of her love for the Tower.
Three Merylls
"Dark danger hangs upon the deed."
Sgt. Meryll (Steve Morgan), Phoebe (Louise Krieger), and Leonard (Marc S. Winer) plot to hide the condemned Col. Fairfax until his reprieve arrives.
Lieutenant and Fairfax
"And now, sir, I have a boon to beg of you."
Col. Fairfax (Matthew Roehrig) asks Lieut. Cholmondely (John Healy) to find him a bride before his execution.
Point and Players
"Here's a man of jollity!"
Jack Point (Jim Ellis) and the strolling players (L-R: Nicholas Dahlman, Margaret Whitcomb, and Matthew Riddle) entertain the townspeople with song and dance.
Elsie and Point
"I have a song to sing, O!"
Elsie Maynard (Nancy Parland) and Jack Point (Jim Ellis) present the singing farce of The Merryman and His Maid.
Wheedling for the key
"Were I thy bride, . . ."
Phoebe Meryll (Louise Krieger) secretly passes the key from jailer Wilfred Shadbolt (Joseph Donohue) to Sgt. Meryll (Steve Morgan), so he can release Col. Fairfax.
The headsman awaits
". . . the block, the headsman, and the tomb."
The Headsman (John Mathews), the Yeomen, and the townspeople prepare for Col. Fairfax's execution.
Searching for Fairfax
"Night has spread her pall once more."
Two days have passed, and the townspeople still search for the escaped Col. Fairfax.
Point and Wilfred
"Thou wouldst be a jester?"
Jack Point (Jim Ellis) undertakes to teach Wilfred Shadbolt (Joseph Donohue) how to be a jester.
The Quartet
"Strange adventure that we're trolling. . ."
Kate (Jacqueline Wallace) and Dame Carruthers (Mary Jane Schulze) reveal Elsie's secret marriage to Leonard -- actually Col. Fairfax (Matthew Roehrig) in disguise -- and Sgt. Meryll (Steve Morgan).
Wilfred fires the shot
"With an ounce or two of lead . . ."
Wilfred Shadbolt (Joseph Donohue), with corroborating details from Jack Point (Jim Ellis), demonstrates to Sgt. Meryll (Steve Morgan), Lieut. Cholmondely (John Healy), and the assembled townspeople how he supposedly shot the escaping Col. Fairfax.
Elsie and Fairfax
"With happiness our souls are cloyed."
Elsie Maynard (Nancy Parland) and Col. Fairfax (Matthew Roehrig) celebrate their marriage publicly at the end.
