Raise a toast!
"Pontevedro here in France!"
Cascada (John Healy) leads the guests and embassy staff in a toast to the Ambassador of Pontevedro.
Folk dancers
Dancers (Flora Chamlin and Roy Williams) perform authentic Pontevedrian folk dances for the enjoyment of the guests at the party.
Olga, Sylviane, and
Proskowia
". . . and I wonder how long she'll remain a widow!"
Olga (Lucy Robinson), Sylviane (Elysse Link), and Proskowia (Esta Busi), wives of the embassy staff, gossip about the merry widow's fortune and her intentions.
Valencienne and
Rosillon
"You are a dutiful wife."
Valencienne (Mary Annarella) and Camille de Rosillon (Theodore Blaisdell) are concerned about keeping their love a secret.
Kromow,
Kromow (Kurtiss Gordon), Bogdanowitsch (Gordon Freed), and Pritschitsch (David Mix Barrington), Pontevedrian embassy staff, await the entrance of the merry widow, the party's featured guest.
Cascada, Hanna, and
St. Brioche
"You hear the clinking of coins, don't you."
Widow Hanna Glawari (Louise Krieger) recognizes the motivations of the French diplomats Cascada (John Healy) and St. Brioche (Nicholas Dahlman).
Count Danilo
"Hello, Fatherland, I'm here!"
Count Danilo (Matthew Roehrig), somewhat disheveled, returns to the embassy after a long night at Maxim's.
Njegus and Baron
Zeta
"Oh dear, I'm pretty rusty with this decoding business."
Njegus (Steve Henderson) brings Baron Zeta (Alan Harris) an anxious telegram from the Prince of Pontevedro.
Hanna and Valencienne
"Quite in the modern style!"
Hanna (Louise Krieger) and Valencienne (Mary Annarella) revel in the modern style of marital relations.
Hanna, Rosillon, and
Valencienne
"Beware, or she is the one compromised."
Hanna (Louise Krieger) cautions Rosillon (Theodore Blaisdell) not to let slip anything that would reveal her plot to maintain the secrecy of his romance with Valencienne (Mary Annarella).
The Grisettes
"La plus belle de Paris!"
Valencienne brings the Grisettes from Maxim's to perform at Hanna's party at the embassy. (l-r: Heather Davies, Mary Ellen Sailer, Katrina Gnatek, Emily Spura, Nancy Simkins, and Margaret Whitcomb)
Hanna and Danilo
"Every touch of fingers tells me what I know . . ."
Hanna (Louise Krieger) and Danilo (Matthew Roehrig) get back together because, in the end, love conquers all.
