Julia Jellicoe (Laura Garner) informs Ernest Dummkopf (Glenn Wall) that she must be Grand Duchess if the company's coup succeeds.
Mock passion
"I shall . . . throw myself into it with all the ardour at my command."
Ernest Dummkopf (Glenn Wall) experiences some of the passion which Julia (Laura Garner) promises to bring to her role as Grand Duchess.
The Quintet
"It may be briefly stated."
The Notary (Dennis Gordan) explains the workings of the law on statutory duels to Ludwig (Matthew Roehrig), Lisa (Lorena Foster Healy), Julia (Laura Garner), and Ernest (Glenn Wall).
Rudolph and Chancellors
"See that the rejoicings are on a scale of unusual liberality."
Grand Duke Rudolph (Stephen Grover) instructs his Chamberlains about the plans for his wedding with the Baroness von Krakenfeldt.
Rudolph and Caroline
"As o'er our penny roll we sing . . ."
The Baroness (Mary Jane Schulze) and the Grand Duke (Stephen Grover) order a frugal repast at the local restaurant (waited on by Kurtiss Gordon).
The duel
"Come, come, the pack!"
The Notary (Dennis Gordan) facilitates a statutory duel between Ludwig (Matthew Roehrig) and Grand Duke Rudolph (Stephen Grover).
Ludwig and Julia
"This part--the Grand Duke's wife--is mine."
Julia (Laura Garner) tells Ludwig (Matthew Roehrig) that, since he's now the Grand Duke, he has to marry her and give up Lisa.
Lisa
"The die is cast, my hope has perished."
Lisa (Lorena Foster Healy) bemoans the loss of her beloved Ludwig.
More champagne
"Come, bumpers--aye, ever-so-many."
The Grand Duke's sommelier (Joe Pistrang) keeps the Baroness' (Mary Jane Schulze) champagne glass filled with Pomméry '74.
Prince, Princess, and Herald
"Well, my dear, here we are at last."
The Prince (Steve Morgan) and Princess (Mary Annarella) of Monte Carlo, announced by their Herald (Andrew P. Banas), arrive in Pfennig Halbpfennig just in time for her to claim the Grand Duke in marriage.
The cancan
"Official ceremonial for the reception of visitors of the very highest distinction."
The company performs a cancan to honor the arrival of the Prince and Princess of Monte Carlo. (Dancers in the front row include Amy Schloerb, Marese Dolan Hutchinson, Kathy Tobiassen, and Heather C. Toelken.)
