We did intend to go to Carrig-Cleena
- For our 2008 spring production, VLO presented a concert version of
The Emerald Isle
or, The Caves of Carrig-Cleena
on Saturday evening, March 8, 2008. This is the light opera
on which Sullivan was working when he died. The music was finished by
Edward German. The book is by Basil Hood, the same librettist with whom
Sullivan collaborated on The Rose of Persia.
We believe that our performance was the first one in the US
with orchestra in more than 100 years.
